See our list of approved AT-CTI program schools.

Candidates must apply directly to an approved school.

When will I begin the pre-employment process?
The hiring region contacts graduates to begin the pre-employment process.

How do I change my geographic preferences?
Submit a written request to:

Aviation Careers Division
AMH-300
P.O. Box 25082
Oklahoma City, OK 73125

I am a graduate of the AT-CTI program currently on active military duty. Under what circumstances will FAA consider me for employment?
Graduates unable to accept a job offer because of active duty in the United States military must contact us in writing:

Aviation Careers Division
AMH-300
P.O. Box 25082
Oklahoma City, OK 73125

You must include:

  • A copy of your activation letter showing the date of your active duty
  • Your active military discharge date

Your record:

  • will not be referred
  • will be inactivated

It is your responsibility to notify Aviation Careers, AMH-300 in writing of your discharge date within 90 days of discharge from active duty. FAA removes graduates from the AT-CTI database if not selected within 2 years of their discharge date. Graduates must meet the age 31 requirement when entering duty in an FAA en route center or terminal facility. FAA may require active duty military to attend the FAA Academy.

How do you place AT-CTI graduates in FAA ATCS positions?
Regions contact Aviation Careers Division, AMH-300, for a list of eligible graduates for that geographic location.

Will I get my first or second geographic preference?
It depends on the agency’s need. Your primary geographic preference determines the referral list. Note: We only use second and third geographic preferences if there is an employment shortage in that location.

After I graduate and receive a school recommendation, when will I be notified that my name has been referred to an FAA region for employment consideration?
The Aviation Careers Division (AMH-300) does not notify you when your name is referred for employment consideration. When regions have vacancies to fill, they contact AMH-300 for a list of eligible applicants to fill their vacancies. The number of applicants referred for employment consideration depends on the number of vacancies to be filled. AMH-300 is not aware of vacancies to be filled until a request for a list of eligibles is received from the hiring region.

Once recommended by an authorized school official, how long do you consider graduates for employment?
Eligibility under the AT-CTI program is valid for 2 years from the candidate’s graduation date. The graduate’s name is removed from the database if the graduate:

  • Has not been selected for employment after 2 years
  • Declines a position
  • Reaches age 31
  • Fails to meet basic qualification requirements including:
    • Suitability
    • Medical
    • Security

Candidates may NOT reapply through this program.

How can I extend my eligibility?
There is currently no process to extend eligibility.

If I am not selected, what will happen to my eligibility?
Your eligibility does not change unless you:

  • Are not selected for employment after 2 years
  • Decline a position
  • Reach age 31
  • Fail to meet basic qualification requirements including:
    • Suitability
    • Medical
    • Security

I am over 30, can I still participate in the AT-CTI program?
Yes. You may participate in the AT-CTI program. However, to be considered for an ATCS position with FAA, you must not have reached your 31st birthday for Tower and En Route Center facility employment.

Are Flight Service Station positions filled through this program?
No. Flight service station positions are not filled through this program.

If I decline a position, will I receive future consideration?
No. Your name is taken off the AT-CTI database if you decline a position under this program.

  • Exceptions
University of Alaska Anchorage graduates, identifying the Alaskan Region as their first geographic preference, who decline a job offer in the contiguous United States, may request in writing reconsideration for vacancies in the Alaskan Region only. The candidate’s eligibility still expires two years after the date of graduation.Inter American University of Puerto Rico graduates, identifying the Caribbean as their first geographic preference, who decline a job offer in the contiguous United States, may request in writing consideration for vacancies in the Caribbean only. The candidate’s eligibility still expires two years after the date of graduation. If you decline a position outside the contiguous United States, not chosen as a geographic preference, your name is returned to the database.

Under what circumstances will you remove me from the AT-CTI database?
Circumstances include any of the following. If you:

  • Are not selected within 2 years of graduation
  • Decline a position in the contiguous United States. (Exceptions are noted above.)
  • Reach age 31
